A LIFE-LONG PASSION TO CREATE
IN VISUAL ARTS

Visual Fine Arts has always been an important part of my life. At 18 I had to make the hard choice whether to study at the Alberta School of Fine Arts in Calgary or attend the University of Calgary to pursue a degree in Psychology. Passion vs Pragmatism.

Although pragmatism won in the short-term, passion has always found a way to bubble up to the surface through participation in community fine arts groups or more formal education at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore or the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto.

LIFE AS A CREATIVE JOURNEY

I can't remember a time that I wasn't driven to express myself and my world visually.

Life changes. The way we perceive ourselves and our place in nature and the world changes over time.

I want to create art that reflects both my inner and outer worlds. I want to interpret the world and my truth in my own way. My hope is to create paintings and drawings that are meaningful.

Life is short. I want to try new things. I am drawn to experiment with old and new methods and materials.

In my mind, studio painting is a wonderful way to delve into my inner world through abstraction.

However, I also love to be outdoors painting directly from life. I also delight in sketching people from life. I find myself lost in time and space, truly living in the present.
